Picture this: It is the middle of the 19th century. India. Malaria is spreading everywhere. The mornings of British colonial soldiers are very rough. To prevent the infection, they are obliged to drink disgustingly bitter quinine shot. Two smart buddies invent a way, to make an unpleasant routine an enjoyable ritual. They mix together the disgusting shot with water, lime and sugar, which results a delicious and refreshing soft drink. History does not remember, who the two inventors exactly were, but we can’t go wrong in naming these British buddies Smith and William. Thank You very much, gentlemen, for gifting the world a tonic!
